Pathways
Chart your children’s education through our Science, Business, and Arts pathways — designed around the Ontario curriculum and personalised to their strengths.
The Ontario curriculum allows time for all students to develop the necessary academic knowledge throughout the Elementary School (Grade 1 – Grade 4) and Middle School (Grade 5 – Grade 8) programs. During these eight years of progressive learning at Maple Stars, all students will experience the breadth of various academic knowledge – ranging from languages to mathematics to sciences to social studies to technologies/coding, various art forms, and physical education and health. These growing years allow all students ample time to find their respective areas of academic curiosity and interests.
By the time these students start their High School (Grade 9 – Grade 12) program, they will meet and discuss with our career counselor to chart their pre-tertiary education pathways through the high school years. At Maple Stars, we are starting the High School in Fall 2027 with three general pathways for our high school students to pursue the depth of their areas of academic interests in three (3) general pathways – the Sciences, the Business, the Arts.
1) Science
Pathways
In the Science pathways, students begin with a general Science subject in Grade 9 to gauge their scientific curiosity and interests in the hard sciences. In Grade 10, students will need to decide on taking either the academic Science (pre-University) or the applied Science (pre-College). In the final two academic years (Grade 11 and Grade 12), students will deepen their academic or applied Science knowledge by taking courses specializing in any combination of the four (4) Science areas below:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Earth and Space Science

Pathways
While Maple Stars focuses primarily on these three pathways (Sciences, Business and Technology), we believe in nurturing all our students in their own unique ways. Thus, students who have curiosity and interests in other areas of specialization – including other pathways related to Arts (music, drama, dance, media arts, visual arts), Economics, English, and Mathematics – are welcome to discuss with our career counselor to chart their own individualized pathway. We aim to cater and assist our students where possible – including working with industry professionals and associations to nurture these students in the above Ontario-aligned courses and pathways.

An Academic Space
While Maple Stars focuses on provision of individual self-paced Ontario-aligned courses from Grade 1 to Grade 8 towards one of the pathways in obtaining the high school diploma (refer to the OSSD description in the ’Curriculum’ webpage), our global partner institutions provide a safe and conducive physical place for students to study. They also have an extensive physical and electronic library at the learning place with Ontario-aligned educational resources for the students to peruse at all grade levels. They also provide proctor-based online assessments on behalf of our school.
Enrichment Programs
In line with our aspiration to nurture students to be ’all-rounders’, we also work with our global partner institutions to provide co-curricular programs for our students on a daily basis throughout each semester. Students can choose to study at home or at our partner institution or a hybrid arrangement where students can study at home and come to the partner institution to engage in individual or group-based co-curricular programs. Depending on the location of our students, our global partner institutions may provide some or all of the following Ontario-aligned co-curricular programs listed below:
- Other Second Language – excluding French (e.g. Mandarin, Hindi/Tamil, Malay, Korean, Japanese, etc)
- Music
- Drama
- Dance
- Media Arts
- Visual Arts
- Computer Coding/Algorithm
- Speech-giving/Story-telling
Sports Programs
Depending on proximity to sports facilities center, our global partner institutions may also organise weekly sports training for our students – including martial arts, swimming, table tennis, basketball, badminton, bowling, tennis, etc. Logistics shall be provided by our partner institutions. There may be a minimum quota (number of students) for organizing such sports training on a weekly basis. Students require prior parental consent to participate in these sports programs. Our global partner institutions will provide a list of the types of sports available around their locality during the registration and/or enrolment stage.
Field Trips
We also work with our global partner institutions to organize one or two Ontario-aligned, course-related field trips every academic semester. Students require prior parental consent to participate in these educational field trips.
