About Us : Maple Stars

Message from Principal

Welcome to Maple Stars Private School!

We are a team of dedicated teachers and professors who have been in the education industry in Ontario province of Canada since 2017. Collectively, we have more than 100 years of hands-on, in-class and virtual teaching experiences between us in guiding and nurturing students at all levels of Canadian education.

As passionate and innovative teachers and instructors, we believe in the quality and impacts of the Ontario curriculum has on the students, and we have full faith in the curriculum on developing children into creative and inquisitive young adults. In recent years, we noted that the Ontario curriculum has been increasingly recognized and adopted by global schools and academies beyond the shores of Canada, and we feel that our team can help and contribute meaningfully to this growth story by setting up Maple Stars Private School to continue our quest on introducing and sharing the Ontario curriculum with our partners and students globally.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and welcoming you into our Maple Stars community… where we nurture today’s students into tomorrow’s stars.

Maple Stars

The seed thought for Maple Stars Private School was born out of our good faith and strong belief that the Ontario curriculum is one of the most comprehensive, flexible, and balanced curriculums for students to learn as they grow into future leaders and talents in the world. We aim to nurture our students into shining stars of tomorrow.

Comprehensive

It is a comprehensive curriculum at Maple Stars Private School where we provide the full Ontarian education experiences from elementary school (Grade 1 to 4) to middle school (Grade 5 to 8) to high school (Grade 9 to 12 - starting Fall 2027). A total of twelve years of good proven education for each student - encompassing an all-round academic knowledge on languages, sciences, businesses, arts, humanities, and technologies. At the end of the 12th year, each student will earn the school-leaving Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) that is well-recognised by both local and international colleges and universities alike.

Flexible Pacing

It is a flexible curriculum at Maple Stars Private School where students learn at their own pace. While most courses take about four (4) months to complete, students with different needs and reasons may take 10-12 months to complete. At every grade, our guidance counsellors will work with each student and parents directly to structure a year-round weekly timetable that suits the pace and lifestyle of the student and the family. The customized timetable is tailored uniquely for each student at the beginning of each grade year. No two students shall have the same time-table – in terms of the learning hours and the courses for each grade level. In terms of assessments, all students will enjoy the flexible curricular approach where the total marks (100%) are based on 70% in course works completed during the term and only 30% in the final exam. This flexibility gives more certainty and less stress to the students.'.

Flexible Approach

It is also a flexible curriculum in terms of the learning approaches. At Maple Stars Private School, we provide our own proprietary learning management system (MyCompass) to engage students using the ‘blended’ learning approach – where students at all grades learn and study online synchronously and asynchronously at their own pace, while being supported continuously by synchronous and asynchronous supports by our global online teachers from Ontario directly every week. All students will enjoy a variety of multimedia interactive supplementary course materials (videos, simulations, virtual labs, interactive quizzes and tests) and periodic assessments to enhance and apply their learning experiences as they move up the grades. Students also have the option to print out the asynchronous course materials to self-study at home or at our partner institutions.

Balanced

It is a balanced curriculum as Maple Stars Private School believes in nurturing students to be ‘all-rounders’ who pursue and develop a wide variety of skills, talents, or abilities – not just in academics but also in non-academic areas. While our private school delivers self-paced curricular courses virtually, our global partners provide a safe and conducive physical institution for students to interact and engage in various extra-curricular enrichment and physical activities throughout the weeks. We work with each student and parents to come up with a list of weekly activities that suit the student’s lifestyle and interests. Some of the Ontario-aligned weekly extra-curricular enrichment programs provided by our partners include music, drama, visual art, AI coding, speech-giving, leadership development and team-building projects/experiments. We also work with our partners to provide periodic experiential field trips and optional weekly sports activities for the students in each academic year.

With the above commitments, we firmly believe that students coming out of the Ontario curriculum at our Maple Stars Private School will be ready for the promises and challenges of the real world out there.

Maple Stars Classroom

Vision

We envision a utopian world where all children around the world shall receive a good education regardless of their creed, race, or colour.

Mission

At Maple Stars Private School, we believe and espouse the academic adage that Learning is Lifelong (’Vita Discenda Est’ in Latin), and that our school serves merely to plant the early seeds of learning in our students via the Ontario curriculum so that they will be talents and leaders of tomorrow. We hope that our humble quest to democratise and make good education accessible to all children globally.

Our Values

What We Stand For

At the heart of what we are doing at Maple Stars Private School is a set of six core values that serve to guide the school and its people in realizing our mission towards our common vision:

Global Citizenship

Be aware that there is a bigger world out there, and be more conscious and respectful of the pluralism and diversity around us. Students must learn to be open-minded and appreciate the differing views or lens in seeing and interpreting our world views.

Balanced Learning

A unique and enriching learning approach for our students everyday by mixing study with experimental projects, enrichment programs, sports programs, and field trips, towards nurturing our students into bright stars of tomorrow.

Flexible learning

Students are expected to be active learners rather than passive learners. Our curriculum provides a very flexible approach where 70% of grade marks are via course works and only 30% of grade marks via final exam or project.

Holistic Wellness

A unified mental and physical wellness of our mind and body as we continue to pursue learning of new knowledge every day. Students need to balance well between academic pursuit and daily lifestyle to ensure their personal well-being stay optimal.

Integrity & Ethics

Inculcate academic honesty and moral accountability on our students, especially on upholding integrity and ethics in navigating the digital world. We expect our students to behave well in an increasingly AI world.

Freedom and Happiness

We strive to create an open culture and inclusive environment where everyone matters. No two students are alike, and we aim to tailor the academic pursuit of each student to align with a healthy lifestyle – to ensure the student has the freedom to learn and the happiness to grow into a better person.
